February 15th and it is 70 degrees!  The crew got out of their winter routine today and mowed greens. Plenty of clippings were collected even with a raised cutting height.  Enjoy the course today cause changes are coming.

A beautiful sunrise to start a great day in February.

Mowing greens in February-not a common occurrence.

Signs of spring everywhere.  These daffodils busted out on Monday after the nice rain and milder temperatures.  It looks like our moderate winter drought may be ending.

The crew has done some nice clean up to our creek banks in preparation for the coming season.

Another view of the fifth hole.

Plenty of wood chips have been spread as well.  Here we have expanded the chip area on hole sixteen.

Josh and I attended the Golf Industry Show in San Antonio recently.  One interesting exhibit illustrated different methods of bunker construction.  This particular bunker uses artificial material for the face.

Stacks of artificial sod used in construction.

Different liners were shown-this particular liner is made of  permeable concrete.

There were also border collies doing live demonstrations of goose control.  That's Greg not Jack.

We did it!  Springfield Golf and Country Club is now a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. We are the 36th course in Virginia to be certified and 831st to be recognized in the world.
